Albanian boxer, Amarildo Bakaj, has surprised everyone by announcing his early retirement from the ring at the age of 26.

Through a heartfelt reaction on social media, Bakaj explained that this painful decision comes as a result of spiritual fatigue and lack of financial support in our country.

He pointed out the many difficulties and obstacles that Albanian athletes face compared to their colleagues in the US or England, where sponsorships are vital to their careers.

Another point the boxer emphasized was his refusal to change his patriotic image for the sake of foreign contracts, choosing to always present himself under the red and black colors. According to him, this loyalty to his identity has closed many doors in the international arena.

Although he is closing an important chapter in sports, Bakaj promised that he will always remain a dedicated patriot outside the ring.

"Today I share with you my resignation from boxing, I know that a large part will be sad, and some will be happy. During my career I don't remember shedding tears of joy, you know very well how many people have tried to ruin my name by talking badly about me, because they saw that I have talent and can reach very high levels, now keep quiet and don't poison your heart with me. Most people thought that I was looking for fame when I asked you for a match like Whitaker did..they are not afraid to simply accept my match, boxers with a name, I need to have some sponsors on my side so that I can bring you what they ask for, boxers in England-USA are strong not because they have more heart or strength like us Albanians, but they are paid the best trainers, businessmen approach you as sponsors, they are patriots in sport and we are on tiktok. This doesn't work with us. We are simply born to suffer As a people, our dreams have always stopped on the way. I am to blame for presenting myself as a patriot with a heart that I am, I have never entered the hearts of foreigners. Don't go into the ring dressed like that, foreign promoters told me, don't speak Albanian, they told me that if you succeed, let the foreigners know, then you will succeed, sign a contract with us, I am not just an Albanian, Albanian, Albanian, you thought that even as a true unsold Albanian I will succeed, but my Albanians even tried to drink my blood, you are only interested in their pockets. I am 26 years old at the best age for boxing, but my soul is tired, I can't stand it anymore. I have to admit I was born in the wrong place.
