Like today, 12 years ago, on January 21, 2011, one of the most serious events in the post-communist period of Albania was recorded.
Four protesters were killed on the boulevard "Martyrs of the Nation" in the anti-Government demonstration, all shot between 16:00-16:10.
Ziver Veizi, Faik Myrtaj and Hekuran Deda died that day, seven others were injured, including Aleks Nika, who was seriously injured and died in a hospital in Turkey.
The first sight of the person suspected as one of the operatives who fired on the crowd was that of Agim Llupo in the basement of the prime minister's office, located according to a plan of measures that was later identified as the fire group.
The investigative group signed 6 arrest warrants for the leaders of the Republic Guard, two convicted by the Court of Appeal, Guard commander Ndrea Prendi with 1 year in prison and guard Agim Llupo with 3 years in prison. But this does not stop there, as according to the family members, the case should be passed to SPAK, to punish all the culprits who killed and wounded that day.
However, to this day, the event is still considered unsolved, since it is not yet known who shot the two victims. Family members still wander the doors of the courts seeking justice.
Yesterday, the journalist of the chronicle, Artan Hoxha, published for the first time on the show "Zone Zero" on Top News some answers that clearly showed that the order for the murders of January 21, 2011 was given from above.
The interceptions belong to a radio channel, where only the head of the Guard at the time, Ndrea Prendi and his subordinates, as well as the General Director of the State Police and the Director of the Tirana Police at that time were a part. According to the journalist, that material was stored by an allied country.
Journalist Artan Hoxha stated that this interception was given to the family members of the deceased Aleks Nika, who will hand it over to the justice authorities. He further added that he has not published the original audio, due to the fact that it remains evidence for the investigations.
It remains to be seen if SPAK will reopen this case on the basis of new evidence that may lead to the arrest of high-ranking officials at the time.
