Pioli's successor/ The fans want Conte, the leaders of Milan choose the
Julen Lopetegui

Fans in the polls are looking for Antonio Conte, but another name has emerged for the succession of Stefano Pioli, who appears to have his bags in hand.

The strongest candidate is Julien Lopetegui, 57 years old, with the last adventure as a coach at Wolverhampton in England. And free since August last year, after Wolves failed to meet his market demands due to financial problems.

In the career of the former goalkeeper born in the Basque region, his experience as a coach in the management of Spain stands out in particular. And she on the bench of Sevilla, the team with which she won the Europa League in 2020. Among them, an adventure to forget at Real Madrid.

Lopetegui is ahead of others on the list, competition formed by Paulo Fonseca, Christophe Galtier, Marcelo Gallardo or Marco Rose. It was this list at Milanello, compiled after the Europa League slump, that convinced the club to consider Pioli's departure as the most likely scenario.

The general identity of the coach that is required - with international experience, with a clear game identity, able to work with young people, in line with the club's project - among others, answers to Lopetegui. Who has had direct contact with Gerry Cardinalen.

Another proof that it's the hottest name right now. The news about the change of coach a few hours before the derby, of course, does not create an optimal atmosphere, but in the meantime, Milan does not have anything to ask for from the championship.

Having virtually secured participation in the next Champions League, he can defend second place with little effort. With so little at stake, the club can start building now for next season.
