Real Madrid is in total chaos. The clash between Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde (with the latter even ending up in hospital for medical attention) was not just an argument or a normal incident between teammates that quickly ends. No, between the two midfielders of “Los Blancos” the situation deteriorated: first a verbal argument, then a collision and finally a physical fight, stopped only thanks to the intervention of other players and staff. The club has announced serious disciplinary measures and general director José Ángel Sánchez has called an emergency meeting.

But it's not the first time something like this has happened, with the incident a few months ago when Rudiger slapped Alvaro Carreras in the dressing room after a team dinner where the players had promised to fight for trophies. Those involved described it as an "isolated and resolved episode", but it was only a sign of a deeper problem.

What caused the fight between Tchouameni and Valverde?

A harsh tackle during Wednesday's training session ignited the conflict: fear of injury with the World Cup ahead, tension ahead of El Clasico, a disappointing season and dissatisfaction with the coach made the explosion even stronger. Harsh words were exchanged, there were postponements and the conflict continued afterwards in Valdebebas.

The missing handshake and then the next fight

Today the situation got even worse – according to Marca – after Valverde refused to shake hands with Frenchman Tchouameni to close the matter. Another sign of a team in deep crisis, without peace and with tense nerves. It was in this toxic climate that what the Spanish media described as one of the “most violent” fights ever took place. The two midfielders reportedly clashed violently and the Uruguayan ended up receiving treatment.

Nervousness and frustration over a disappointing season

Real Madrid is going through one of the most difficult moments in recent years. The group is divided and some players no longer speak to each other. A large part of the team is also dissatisfied with the coach for the way the group has been managed. After the dismissal of Xabi Alonso, the results did not come even with the technician Arbeloa. The situation was further aggravated by the sporting failures: elimination from the Champions League and Copa del Rey, the lack of chances for the title in La Liga and the obligation to fight just to save the season.
