Manchester City have announced that the north stand will be named after Pep Guardiola, while a statue will also be erected in the Spaniard's honor.

The decision comes just after the Catalan coach's departure from the team's management after a decade in charge was made official. Despite ending his role as coach, Guardiola will hold a new managerial position within the same structure, being appointed as a global ambassador for the City Football Group.

In this new role, he will provide technical consultancy to the clubs that are part of this group and will be involved in special projects. The decision to honor his figure was taken directly by the club's owner, Sheikh Mansour.

Specifically, the stadium's northern stand, which was recently expanded, will be named the "Pep Guardiola Stand" and will be inaugurated in the final match of the championship against Aston Villa.

Also, a statue of him will be placed in front of the main entrance of this stand to immortalize his contribution to the club.
