Galatasaray club has sent an official offer to the singer of Albanian origin, Dua Lipa, to perform at the championship title celebrations.

The offer includes a payment of $2 million for the performance of 4 songs during the ceremony expected to be organized in Istanbul.

An invitation with Albanian historical significance

The invitation to Dua Lipa is not just a marketing move, but is closely linked to the club's roots. Galatasaray SK is known worldwide as the "Istanbul Albanian team" due to its genesis. The club was founded in 1905 by Ali Sami Yen, who was the son of the colossus of Albanian literature and thought, the renaissance man Sami Frashëri. This heir to the distinguished Frashërlli family laid the foundation stone for what is today a Turkish football superpower.

The Frashëri family legacy in Istanbul

Ali Sami Yen was not only the founder, but also the first president of the club for 13 consecutive years. In honor of his extraordinary contribution, the old and legendary stadium of the club was named “Ali Sami Yen Stadyumu” from 1964 to 2010. He created this team with a clear vision: “to play together like Englishmen, to have one color and one name, and to defeat non-Turkish teams”.

A symbolic union of two eras

If Dua Lipa accepts the offer, this would be a symbolic meeting between history and modernity. On the one hand, the club created by the son of Sami Frashëri and on the other, the Albanian singer who today dominates the world stage.
