Brutal foul on Koné, FIFA severely punishes Qatar midfielder

FIFA has officially handed Qatar midfielder Assim Madibo a five-match suspension after a horror tackle that shocked the 2026 World Cup.

The victim of this serious foul was Canada star Ismael Koné, who suffered a horrific fracture of his shinbone (tibia and fibula). This exemplary punishment by FIFA came at the same time that Qatar's adventure in this World Cup was finally over, after being eliminated by Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Despite the drama and great pain that ended his dream in the middle, Koné became the undisputed hero of the tournament.

During Canada's subsequent match against Switzerland, the midfielder refused to stay in the hospital and appeared in the stadium sitting in a wheelchair to support his teammates.
