Technology in football, introduced with much fanfare by FIFA, has not only taken away the excitement of goals, but continues to cause endless controversy.

Mistakes and delays in decision-making have become such an acute problem that Premier League clubs may decide to scrap the VAR system.

The proposal has been made by Wolverhampton and the clubs will vote on the request at their annual general meeting, which will take place in June.

After entering into force in 2019, in the span of five seasons, "video assistance referee" continues to create unpleasant situations.

In order to remove the VAR system from English football, two-thirds of the Premier League clubs must vote "for", in other words, at least 14 out of 20 teams.
