Not just weapons, drugs or dangerous materials… FIFA’s bans on 2026 World Cup stadiums also include displays of affection deemed “inappropriate,” including particularly passionate kisses.
According to Bild, spectators are informed via loudspeakers about prohibited behavior inside stadiums. In addition to insults, smoking, vaping, offensive gestures and illegal betting, the list also includes so-called "inappropriate displays of affection."
This intentionally general term includes behaviors such as excessive body language and, according to the interpretation adopted in the United States, even prolonged “passionate kissing.” However, brief kisses remain permissible.
FIFA has not officially clarified the limits of this rule, but the wording leaves administrators discretion to intervene if the behavior is deemed excessive or disruptive to other spectators. To date, there have been no reports of fans being warned or removed from stadiums for kissing.
However, similar rules are already included in the codes of conduct adopted by many American sports teams.
Other items banned from the premises include flour, toilet paper, balloons and flags larger than the size limits set by FIFA.
