The expert on election issues, Dritan Taulla stated that the prosecution must verify before the date of the elections all the candidates participating in the May 14 race.
He stated that information was requested from the CEC regarding some candidates for mayors and municipal councils.
"We are following the statements and what the CEC is doing regarding decriminalization. It is a process that we are following and we will have a position regarding this. We have the decriminalization law and all candidates must comply with the legal framework. We also have the moral aspect. KRIK has called on the political parties to run for clean figures.
We also looked for other additional elements to identify the integrity of the candidates. It is in the choice of political parties to run for candidates. The prosecution must return answers to candidates who are suspected before election day. It can also receive information abroad. Regarding the information that is guaranteed by the Albanian institutions, we requested that the information be sent before the day of the elections so that they know that that person is no longer a candidate. If the partner countries send the information late, he will be removed from the post.
The decriminalization law affects a number of criminal offences. Political parties must also guarantee the integrity of candidates' relatives. The counter argument can be that we are not in the time of communism, but on the other hand, in those cases where the suspicion can be raised that the person who is running is instead of the one who has problems with the law", he declared for Panorama TV .
