The US special envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, is today on an official visit to Albania.

Initially, he was received at the Prime Minister's office, where he held a closed-door meeting for about 20 minutes with the head of the government, Edi Rama. It is learned that the topic of the discussion was the political developments in the country and the local elections which will be held on May 14.

Then, at 17:00, Gabriel Escobar went to the Presidency for a meeting with the head of state Bajram Begaj. In the meeting with the president, he was also accompanied by the US ambassador, Yuri Kim.

LSA has published photos from the meeting between Bajram Begaj and Gabriel Escobr. It is not known what was discussed, but it seems that the meeting went very well as everyone is laughing a lot.

The next day, Escobar will meet Enkelejd Allibeaj at 10:00 a.m. and then he will meet the head of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, at the headquarters.

The last time Escobar visited Tirana was in April of last year when he accompanied the US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, Karen Donfried.
