"They say I eat children" - Edi Rama: I wake up and sleep for national

In his closing speech from the "Palace of Congresses", Prime Minister Rama underlined for the umpteenth time that Albania is very close to European integration and therefore should not give up at the last moment.

Saying that despite the words that citizens hear from the opposition about the Socialist Party, they should not give up and not lose hope that even though the country has flaws, European integration is in the final phase.

"A person is not asked to give their life, a person is not asked to immerse themselves in illegality, a person is not asked to do anything more than be a good patriotic citizen and to understand that today to join forces and align with the Socialist Party is to align with the power of Albanians to take a proud Albania to where Albania has always been seen as a country of people with tails."

Don't think that everyone wants Albania in the EU. In every country there are forces that don't want the country in the EU. Here in Albania there are forces that don't want Albania in the EU.

For us, the first ones, we must be very clear that if the moment slips away, we will grit our teeth, not to cover up our mistakes or hide our flaws, but to keep our eyes open and say that we will cross this last sea just like those swimmers who cross the sea by swimming.

"It won't be easy, it will always be more difficult because the left is always closer," said Rama.

"You have put me in charge of waking up before everyone and sleeping after everyone, and when I am awake, never to betray you, and when I sleep, never to dream of how to profit at the expense of each of you. Maybe you haven't heard yet that I eat children. Long live, and that was the double of the word, long live the fascists, long live the socialists, long live Albania in the EU," he continued.
