The Albanian Parliament will hold its next plenary session on Thursday, where one of the most important issues on the agenda is the review of the draft decision to authorize the arrest or deprivation of liberty of MP Belinda Balluku.
According to the agenda, the third item of the session provides for the consideration of the draft decision "On granting authorization by the Assembly for the arrest/deprivation of liberty of MP Belinda Balluku, through the replacement of the security measure".
The procedure is based on Article 73 of the Constitution of the Republic of Albania and Articles 13 and 118 of the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly of Albania, while a simple majority of votes is required for the approval of the draft decision.
During the consideration of this issue in plenary session, it will be foreseen:
Speech by MP Belinda Balluku;
Presentation of the report by the parliamentary minority, represented by members of the Council on Rules of Procedure, Mandates and Immunity;
Presentation of the report by the parliamentary majority, also by the members of this council;
The vote will then take place in the session.
Thursday's session is expected to take place in a tense political climate, as the issue of MP Balluku's immunity is among the most controversial topics on the political scene in recent days.
Although a speech by Balluku herself is formally scheduled, it is not yet known for sure whether she herself will prefer to speak in front of the deputies.
We recall that on that day the opposition announced a protest outside Parliament.
