Meetings with Rama, Braho and several MPs, German minister in Tirana: We want to
Gunther Krichbaum's meetings

Gunther Krichbaum, Minister of State for Europe in the Federal Government of Germany, has held several meetings in Tirana.

As the German Embassy informs through a press release, Krichbaum met with Prime Minister Edi Rama, Minister of State for Public Administration and Anti-Corruption Adea Pirdeni, Deputy Foreign Minister Megi Fino, co-chairs of the National Council for European Integration, Taulant Balla and Jorida Tabaku, chairman of the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party Gazment Bardhi, as well as the head of the SPAK Special Prosecution Office, Klodian Brahon.

The focus of his talks was Albania's EU membership process, as well as the strengthening of the rule of law, the fight against corruption and organized crime.

Krichbaum said that Germany wants to see Albania in the EU.

"Because we want to see Albania in the European Union, we are at the same time a friend, supporter and critic on its path towards the EU. We see the enormous potential and efforts of Albania for reforms, but also the national, regional and international challenges in the EU accession process. For this reason too, it was important for me to hold direct talks with the Albanian government, parliament and judiciary.

"Albania is currently at a crucial moment: the path towards the EU must be taken forward with determination, by firmly implementing in this context the next reforms, especially in the area of the rule of law, and the unwavering fight against organized crime and corruption," said Krichbaum after the conclusion of these meetings.

He added that achieving this goal requires courageous continuation of the path of reforms, but not only that.

It also requires the involvement and constructive interaction of all actors and institutions within the framework of their constitutional responsibilities.
