Preliminary hearing for the former president at the GJKKO today, it is expected whether the "Meta" file will go to trial or not

A preliminary hearing is expected to be held today at 10:00 at the Special Court for the leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, and his ex-wife, where it will be decided whether or not the case will go to trial.

In the 8 hours of the last session, there was a clash between Meta and prosecutor Sotir Kllapi. The SPAK prosecutor managed to read only 90 pages of the request for the former couple to go to trial and about 100 more pages remain.

SPAK closed the investigations on July 28, 2025 regarding the CEZ-DIA affair, LSI lobbying in the US, and the property investigation. 

Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi are accused of passive corruption, money laundering and failure to declare assets. Pirro Xhixho is accused of passive corruption of high-ranking officials, committed in collaboration, while Fatime Kryemadhi is accused of money laundering, together with Ema Çoku.
