The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, held a meeting with citizens of units 1 and 3 in Tirana, where he articulated harsh accusations against the government and Prime Minister Edi Rama.

In his speech, Berisha stated that the country is under a regime that, according to him, is more severe than any previous dictatorship and that the degradation of the state has reached unprecedented levels.

Berisha declared that the government has built criminal structures within the state, going so far as to speak of the existence of a “crime office” headed by the prime minister himself. “Can you imagine having a crime office where crimes of all kinds are organized?” he said.

Following the speech, the DP leader also mentioned specific cases, directly accusing Rama of serious events. "That criminal Gilmando Dani was also killed by police commandos. Crime killed him, Rama killed him ," Berisha said.

Another serious accusation was related to corruption. Berisha declared that Rama had benefited from large sums of money for his family. "He has embezzled 500 to 600 million euros for his family, and maybe even more. Rama only has the mind to steal and steal," the democratic leader said.

"The degradation, the degeneration in the absolute sense of the word of the character and official and legal morality of the people of this government, exceeds any kind of prediction, the book you may have read or the movie you may have seen. We who have lived under two dictatorships, we make comparisons and I tell you that in our memory, there has never existed in Europe a black dictatorship like that of Enver Hoxha. But, I guarantee you that in some aspects, and not a few, this regime today is more destructive for the Albanian being than the first regime was. The degradation of these rulers has only the sky as its limit. I will give you an example. The late former Prime Minister of Italy, a great friend of Albania, Silvio Berlusconi, the Italian communist left was obsessed with, but even when he was Prime Minister in office, when he chaired the G7, he did not evade the orders of justice. Even when they marked the greatest injustice, he did not evade. "He never said I wouldn't show up," Berisha said.

According to Berisha, the situation of the media and freedom of expression in the country has deteriorated significantly. He stated that censorship today is even harsher than during the years of the communist dictatorship.

"Everything is being done to present as an issue what is not an issue and to hide the truth ," he declared, accusing the government-affiliated media of manipulating public opinion. Berisha also spoke about the international arena, focusing on the absence of Prime Minister Rama at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

"Rama's place was in Davos, but Davos did not accept him. His media did not present it that way, but found excuses ," he said.

Drawing a comparison with his political engagement in the early 1990s, Berisha stressed that he had acted as an idealist without fear of personal or family consequences. "In 1991, I did not ask what I or my family might suffer, I remained an idealist. That is how all Albanians should be today," he said.

The DP leader accused the government of building its political survival on attacks on the opposition and that the elections have turned into a farce. “A regime that makes electoral farce and coup deserves every response,” Berisha said, adding that the government, according to him, is kept afloat by “human scum” and the socialist deputies “have received criminal mandates.”

Berisha said that the DP won the 2025 elections, but that they were stolen. "The Democratic Party won the elections in 2025. They were stolen by the Socialist Party, after Rama donated 2 billion euros, after he forgave fines and interest," Berisha declared.

At the end of his speech, the DP leader said that Albania needs idealists.

"The country needs idealists. Invite every idealist to the Democratic Party. On the 10th, the citizens of the country are invited to Tirana, to give the last lesson to Rama and his regime. We are in the last mile ," he said.
