Foreign Minister Igli Hasani, asked by analyst Baton Haxhiu what the Albanian state will do for Kosovo, in the event of a crisis similar to the one in the Middle East, replied that the Albanian state has shown that it is on Kosovo's side against Kosovo's enemies, such as Iran.
Hasani said that Albania is a NATO member country and has an equal place in the alliance.
Chat on TPZ:
Baton Haxhiu: I'm trying to ask two questions within one. We are living in a time when two institutions, the largest of the UN, seem to not exist and it is our fate that we were the last to discuss procedures within the UN and we were in oblivion and it will not be discussed again.
We have a unilateral path of states, of superpowers, which the UN, etc., are negligible. America is inside the attacks on Iran and when we are like this, an America that is strong, one that is "America First" that does not want intervention and a Trump that changed it. We have entered a trilateral phase of China, the USA and Russia that can decide on a future Yalta.
Do you have an effort on the part of the ministry and the prime minister to build a strategic narrative about where you belong and to whom you belong, where you touch the values of Albanians and Albania and whether these three powers decide what they will do with Kosovo?
Igli Hasani: It is one of the things that we have been calling multilateralism for some time. We have an open battle between democracies and democracies, like the Ukraine-Russia war.
The institutions that emerged after the Second World War are suffering, such as the UN. For a country like Albania, with a modest but important contribution, at least in our region. We say committed to deepening reforms in full EU membership, which is not only an economic family, but also a family of values, liberal, based on the rule of law.
Baton Haxhiu: Yalta seems to be dead. We have a serious problem of Kosovo, which is an Albanian problem. How prepared is the Albanian state to cope with a crisis, like the one that is currently in the Middle East and Ukraine?
Igli Hasani: The Albanian state has shown that it is on Kosovo's side and if it draws a parallel with the current situation, the Albanian state continues to be with Kosovo against Kosovo's enemies, such as Iran. I am sorry that in Tirana there are people who become with Iran to be jihadists and fundamentalists than those that Iran has. Kosovo has been and is a national priority and the most important issue that we have with partners and allies because we are a NATO member country and we have an equal country and it will be one of the most important topics that we will pursue.
