The political parties are the ones that Albania seems to have the majority, where according to the Central Election Commission (CEC) their number was at least 132.

This is the figure obtained from the Court of the Judicial District of Tirana. The 2022 annual report of the CEC, which focuses, among other things, on the process of evaluating the financial statements of registered political parties and the audit shows that for most parties the process was unsuccessful due to the lack of correct addresses.

"At the beginning of the calendar year, the Central Election Commission sent a letter to the Tirana Judicial District Court, in which the number of political parties registered in the Court was requested. Referring to the letter received by the Central Election Commission from the Court of the Judicial District of Tirana, the political parties registered with the Court are 132 (one hundred and thirty-two).

Also, the Central Election Commission addressed the political parties registered in the register of the Tirana Judicial District Court, where it informed them of their obligation to submit annual financial reports to the CEC.

Of the 132 (one hundred and thirty-two) political parties to which the notification was sent, 37 (thirty-seven) political parties received the notification, while for 95 (ninety-five) political parties the envelope was returned due to the incorrect address. the report says.

Focusing on the details regarding the audit, the CEC reports that by decision of the State Election Commissioner, 4 (four) licensed accounting experts were appointed to audit the funds received and spent for the calendar year 2021 by 132 political parties.

"132 audit reports were submitted to the Central Election Commission by legal auditors. From these 132 reports, we have: - 20 audit reports, submitted by legal auditors in accordance with the format approved by the CEC, for the income and expenses incurred by political parties for the calendar year 2021," the report underlines.

Meanwhile, two statements have been submitted by the leaders of the political parties who have declared to the legal auditors that they did not have any income or expenses for the calendar year 2021.

At least 8 political parties appear to have received the notification from the legal auditors, but have not contacted the latter, while 5 political parties have refused to cooperate with the legal auditor, refusing to provide information regarding financial reports.

Also, 17 political parties have not been audited by legal auditors as it turns out that these political parties have zero financial statements.

The majority, as many as 80 political parties, have no correct address after the legal auditors have sent them a letter to start the audit process and the letter has been returned by post./monitor
