Prime Minister Edi Rama, at the 'Socialist Girls and Women for Albania 2030' meeting, stated that "Albania is a woman, Europe is a woman and the success of the effort for Albania 2030 in the EU depends on the sisters, mothers and daughters of Albania."
Rama thanked the girls and women for all the "great support and unwavering work they have done", while also expressing confidence that in the May 11 elections, the Socialist Party will be victorious and that, as he said, "Albania on May 12 will dawn covered in pink."
He emphasized that our mothers, wives and daughters are Albania's main success in joining the European Union.
"Today we have gathered simultaneously in the 12 regions of the country to officially launch the May 11 campaign and since it was the only way to connect all the forces of the Women's Forum together, we thought it would be best to gather all the leaders and coordinators of the regions to convey a direct message: 'Albania is a woman, Europe is a woman and the success of the effort for Albania 2030 in the EU depends on the sisters, mothers and daughters of Albania'. There is nothing that makes me more proud than the fact that this force is strongly supported by women. The SP is supported nationally by 56% of women and girls voters, while in certain regions this goes up to 65%. This means that support among men and boys is lower.
I would never exchange the meaningful and encouraging support of the most sensitive, most reasonable, sacrificial part of the Albanian people, which are women and girls, for the support of the other part, the support of men and boys, which I greatly appreciate. There is no discussion that between the two parties, I choose mothers, daughters and sisters first, and not for one or two reasons, but for more, and that is why today we could not start this last stage towards the finish of May 11 except here and thus with the women and girls who, knowing the organization of the Socialist Party from the inside, deserve to be called the commandos of our army in all the regions that coordinate the activities of the team, inside and outside Albania. I thank all of you here in the hall and all of you in the other 11 halls and I give you a hug.
"That flag that you have embroidered with great patience, zone by zone and polling center by polling center, will cover the entire electoral map and on the morning of May 12, Albania will wake up covered in pink, which is the color of women and girls, but which is also the color of the Socialist Party of Albania. It is not by chance that they are so closely linked to each other today. This is a very significant synergy because it started 20 years ago when I was newly elected and I visited the organization ," Rama said.
Among other things, Rama also recalled his beginnings in the party, where the presence of women was very low in the party.
"There were no women and no girls, and what made this type of meeting depressing was the answer to my question about why there are no women here. Where are the women here with us? Meanwhile, at that time, Parliament was made up of men, while the newly formed government had only one woman, and here in the party a gender revolution began that extended outside this party, but systematically increasing women's decision-making," said Rama.
