The Government of Albania has decided to remove visas and the need for a unique residence permit in our country for all those foreigners who are employed as information technicians (IT) in our country.

By decision of the Council of Ministers, foreign citizens who will be employed by a company in Albania in the field of IT, science and technology activities, will not need to be provided with a visa or residence permit for a period of one year.

To enter the territory of Albania, they will only need a statement issued by the company that employed them.

GOVERNMENT DECISION:

DECISION ON DETERMINING THE ENTRY, STAY AND EMPLOYMENT IN THE REPUBLIC OF ALBANIA OF FOREIGN NATIONALS, EMPLOYEE OF AN IT COMPANY

In support of Article 100 of the Constitution and Articles 29, point 2, and 56, point 1, of Law No. 79/2021, "For foreigners", with the proposal of the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, of the Minister of Finance and Economy and the Minister of the Interior, Council of Ministers

DECIDE:

1. The foreigner, who, at the moment of passing through one of the border crossing points while entering the territory of the Republic of Albania, proves that he will work in an IT company, through a statement issued by the company itself, which has activity mainly computer programming, consultancy and related services, data processing, hosting and related activities, internet portals and/or publishing computer programs, according to the nomenclature of economic activities, approved by the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania, and performs activities as a user in science and technology parks, pursuant to law no. 58/2022, "On the creation, organization and operation of technology and science parks",has the right to enter without a visa and to stay without a unique permit in the Republic of Albania for a period of up to 1 (one) year.

2. During this period, the foreigner, according to point 1 of this decision, can apply to be provided with a unique permit in the Republic of Albania, according to the criteria, documentation and procedure provided for in decision no. 858, dated 29.12.2021 , of the Council of Ministers, "On determining the criteria, procedures and documentation for the entry, stay and treatment of foreigners in the Republic of Albania", amended.

3. The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance and Economy and the Ministry of the Interior are charged with the implementation of this decision.

This decision enters into force after publication in the "Official Gazette".
