Freedom Party protest in front of SPAK

The Freedom Party held a rally today in front of the Special Prosecution Office as a sign of protest against the imprisonment of former President Ilir Meta, where several dozen sympathizers gathered.

Citizens gathered in front of the building with several banners reading "Stop political imprisonment."

The President of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, conveyed a message from the cell which was read by the Secretary for Public Relations, Arla Merja.

His message focused on attacks on the Special Prosecution Office, emphasizing that the aim is to hit the opposition, while favoring those in power and “protecting the Prime Minister’s corruption.” Ilir Meta considers the investigations against him shameful and manipulated.

Meanwhile, in his speech, PL secretary Tedi Blushi accused SPAK of destroying justice reform and advocating corruption.

He accused Duman of being the blindest mercenary of the Renaissance, who according to him has the mission of politically persecuting the opposition.

"This is Altin Dumani who uproots an entire village to investigate an unlicensed combine harvester. It is a fraudulent institution that sets up false trials with zero facts, documents and zero evidence against opposition leaders only for the sake of the drug mafia. Dumani is the enemy of the rule of law, freedoms, and the human dignity of every Albanian. He is the blindest mercenary of the Renaissance, whose mission is the political persecution of the opposition."

The protest was attended by Erisa Xhixho, Tedi Blushi, Petrit Vasili, Lefter Maliqi, Genc Gjokutaj and Petraq Milo. But Edmond Haxhinasto, Edmond Panariti and Agim Nesho were absent. Monika Kryemadhi also did not join the protest against her ex-husband.

This protest was not joined by ally Sali Berisha and senior officials of the DP, but also by several exponents of the PL itself. The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, said today during a press conference that they were invited to participate, but this protest was not organized by the coalition. Berisha said that the DP, together with the PL, will send the issue of his arrest to the Anti-Torture Committee of the Council of Europe.

"The protest was organized by the Freedom Party. The Democrats were invited to participate, but this protest was not organized by the coalition. On the contrary, the DP considers the kidnapping of Ilir Meta and his mistreatment, dragging and beating, as one of the most serious acts of public torture recorded from the 1950s to the present day."

And the DP, together with the PL, will send this case to the Anti-Torture Committee of the Council of Europe, so that those who organized this act receive international punishment. A blind act of political revenge by Edi Rama against Ilir Meta ," Berisha said.
