The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha , has shared details from his participation in the 50th anniversary summit of the European People's Party, emphasizing the support that, according to him, the Albanian opposition has received from European leaders.
In a communication with citizens on social networks, he focused on the political situation in the country, the integration process and recent developments, while calling for participation in the next protest, describing it as a key moment for civic reaction.
Excerpts from the conversation with citizens on social networks:
Good morning, dear citizens who are following this conversation of mine on social networks.
First of all, once again, Happy Eid al-Fitr, from the bottom of my heart I wish that the great God will return all your sacrifices in goodness and prosperity for you and your family.
I have just returned from the 50th anniversary summit of the European People's Party, an exceptionally important event for this party, which has been, with its members, the main locomotive of development, prosperity, and democracy in Europe and has radiated strongly throughout the world.
The DP, an associate member of the EPP, was invited to all the events where very important decisions were made, important first of all for the EU itself and for the competition within this union or the competition of this union with new rules greatly facilitating competition and business.
Major discussions and decisions on Ukraine, its full support as well as ways of dealing with the energy crisis already created by the war in the Middle East and the major damage that Iran has caused to oil and gas installations in the most sensitive energy region on the planet, the Persian Gulf region.
Of course, in these activities I met many old friends, but also new ones, I met prime ministers, party leaders, and prominent personalities.
The discussion was, of course, about the situation in Albania.
What I can tell the citizens is that the knowledge is complete about Albania's slide into a narco-state or a narco-dictatorship, and Edi Rrama today is a dictator in the red circle, with no future in Albania and in Europe.
The support for the opposition and its efforts is full from the EPP, from the leaders of these parties, from the major parties, the CDU, other center-right parties in Europe.
We discussed extensively on cooperation with these parties and I informed them of our determination, our resistance, our peaceful uprising to overthrow this illegal regime, the dramatic developments of the last weeks, in which Edi Rama took all the blame, as he has, by definitively blocking the justice system, the legal package that he is preparing as a shield for his and the government's thefts.
So, I can say that at this summit, the DP had its deserved place and received very great support.
We held meetings in the Belgian Parliament and in the parliament of the capital of Belgium, in which we informed our interlocutors, our friends, about the entire dramatic situation that Albania is going through.
On this occasion, I express my deep gratitude to the European People's Party, President Weber, Secretary General Montserrat and all those who supported the party during these years and who strongly support it today in its efforts for an Albania where citizens can vote freely, a democratic Albania.
I thank all the friends I met there for the kindness they showed, the support they showed, as well as the representatives of the Belgian parliament and the Brussels parliament.
So we can say that Albanian democracy today has great and true friends and supporters, the Albanian opposition has great and true friends, who support the DP.
I must tell you here that what was once accepted or declared as an absolutely non-existent success, now his star has faded, he is a blackened figure.
Coincidentally, but it was a coincidence, but during the time we were in Brussels, Montenegro voted to close important chapters, while Albania remained in the classroom and could not close them.
And I guarantee the Albanians that with Edi Rama there is no progress towards the EU, on the contrary there is an ever-greater regression.
So, I wanted to briefly inform you about this in this conversation and take this opportunity to call on Albanian citizens to fulfill our duty towards this regime, to stand up strongly against Edi Rama and his criminal organization, which most recently closed the doors of Europe for Albania with the shield it creates for his thefts and his criminal organization.
Today it is a duty of every Albanian citizen, regardless of their beliefs, that I am convinced that Albanians vote for an Albania in Europe, an Albania that integrates into the EU, vote for an Albania that respects the rule of law, that fights corruption resolutely and legally, to join tomorrow at 6 o'clock in the streets and squares of Tirana to show our strength, our invincible spirit with the greatest peaceful uprising that Tirana has known.
