Albana Vokshi

The Democratic Party of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha's grouping has today submitted to the Presidency of the Assembly the draft law for the establishment of a minimum living wage of 200 euros for every Albanian.

They say that this is a vital necessity to lift Albanians out of extreme poverty, stressing that thousands of citizens benefit from this bill with economic assistance.

"Today, the Democratic Party submitted to the Presidency of the Assembly the draft law for establishing a living minimum of 200 euros for every Albanian as a vital necessity, in order to lift Albanians out of extreme poverty. Hundreds and thousands of citizens benefit from this minimum in economic assistance, unemployment and pension." - said in the announcement of the DP press office.

The draft law was submitted by the democratic deputy Albana Vokshi, who told the media that the government should accept this proposal of the opposition, since there is enough money in the state budget to provide the citizens with a normal life.

"We filed, and a working group was set up at the DP and today we come with a proposal that asks the parliament to approve it, within a 3-month period, to determine the minimum living wage. Albania, as the only country without a living minimum, will determine this in relation to the income that ensures every citizen the purchase of minimum food and the provision of some social-cultural services. We all remember that Rama in the opposition shouted for the minimum wage, but now he rejects the opposition's amendments.

Of course, this requires funds and money, but the government has. Why should Rama increase the salaries for the governors, and not for the citizens since he takes the budget money to the incinerators and uses it to buy votes. Every payment that has been below the floor until today will be 200 euros. This will be the minimum they will receive and they will be provided with a dignified life to ensure a normal life", she said.
