The German tabloid BILD has paid attention to the campaign being conducted by SPD politician Markus Schreiber. He has focused on the Albanian community living in Germany.
According to Bild, within a very short time, the city council member received over 304,000 likes on his first post and over 161,000 on his second. Bild writes that this is a record as normally such figures for local politicians from Hamburg are in the 4-digit or maximum 5-digit range.
Schreiber is trying to attract voters of Albanian origin to his electoral district, which lies south of the city. In total, there are about 9,000 potential voters from the Albanian community who can vote in the upcoming state elections on February 2.
Schreiber addresses this issue very simply.
“I’m learning Albanian,” he says in the first video. And then he explains what “goodbye” and “farewell” mean in Albanian. He also points to the Albanian national symbol, the “double-headed eagle.”

The figures show that this has apparently been well received by local Albanians living in Hamburg and who are allowed to vote. The law for Hamburg allows you to be elected to parliament even with 5 or 6 thousand personal votes.
Schreiber told Bild, “I noticed this group of voters. It seems like one in every shop in Veddel is Albanian. Albania is a big country, the people are very welcoming.” He says he himself is a little surprised by the incredible response on TikTok: “But I think it’s good when love is so well received on social media. And there’s not just hatred and violence,” he says.
