The Fier Police escorted the uncle of the DP candidate in Fier, Silva Hasaj, to the Police Station a day ago, after he was caught in his car with a pad of notes regarding the electoral process. After his statements were taken, Agim Hasaj was released, while the Fier Police referred the materials to the Fier Prosecutor's Office.

"On 27.04.2025, following information obtained through operational channels that citizen AH, 59 years old, resident of Peshtan, was carrying out illegal activities in connection with the electoral process, the Police services, at 19:20, checked and then accompanied this citizen to the Fier Police Station.

During the physical search of this citizen and the search of the vehicle in which he was traveling, a notebook with notes regarding the electoral process was found.

Citizen AH's statement was taken and he was released.

The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Fier, for further investigative actions.

We clarify to the public opinion that regarding the status published by the political leader of the Democratic Party for the Fier region, Mr. GB, in which he claimed that the State Police exerted pressure on the family members of the Democratic Party candidate for deputy, Ms. SH, (citizen AH who was accompanied, her relative), we emphasize that the claim is untrue since the Police have carried out all procedural actions in accordance with the law in this case and the materials have been referred to the Prosecutor's Office.

"The State Police guarantees citizens and all political entities that it is completely detached from political entities and focused solely on enforcing the law, ensuring order and security throughout the electoral campaign, and the inviolability of the vote," the police statement said.

What did Bardhi declare?

Bardhi: I strongly condemn every act of pressure and intimidation that the State Police, under direct political influence, has exercised against the family members of the DP candidate for deputy, Ms. Silva Hasaj. These actions represent a dangerous escalation of efforts to intimidate citizens and deform their free will through blackmail and institutional violence.

This is a clear manifestation of state capture, where law enforcement agencies, instead of being at the service of the law and citizens, are used as instruments of power to crack down on political opponents. The attempt to merge the State Police, politics, and organized crime is a serious threat to democracy and the stability of the country.

This repeated act of State Police involvement in this election campaign in the Fier region, I guarantee that it will not remain without consequences. Edi Rama and Belinda Balluku, who give the orders and those who implement them will face justice. No one is above the law and no attempt to intimidate the opposition will succeed.

We call on the OSCE/ODIHR and every international institution to closely monitor the conduct of the State Police in the elections and any attempts to undermine democratic standards in an electoral process.
