Politics is also abandoned by young voters. The turnout figures for the May 14 election gave a strong response to the disenchantment with politics, as the official turnout was only 34.37% of the total number of eligible voters.

This figure is even more disappointing when analyzing the participation of people who had the right to vote for the first time. Out of 122 thousand new voters, only 16 thousand of them, or only 13.12% of them, chose to exercise their right to vote.

Although some of the candidates, mostly Belind Kelliçi of "Bashke Fitomje" in the capital city, targeted the voters for the first time during the campaign, using backbiting as a way to "absorb" their votes, they still failed to persuade young people to exercise their will in the ballot boxes.

From the first hours of the voting process, it was clearly seen that the participation would be low, so much so that a good part of the politicians, mainly those of the opposition, made several public appearances in the afternoon, where they repeated to the citizens to exercise the right of voting, however the effect was almost zero.
