European Commissioner Marta Kos reacted on social media after meeting with Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ferit Hoxha. She emphasized that Albania is one of the leading countries in the accession process.

Kos revealed that in discussions with Hoxha, the focus was on objectives for the rule of law.

According to her, it is necessary to implement these objectives in order to maintain the pace of negotiations.

“Albania is currently one of the leading countries in the EU accession process. This comes with high expectations. We are now continuing discussions on interim rule of law targets. Together with Foreign Minister Ferit Hoxha, I stressed the need for credible implementation of these targets for Albania, in order to maintain momentum in the accession negotiations. This is an important step towards achieving EU standards in the rule of law, the fight against corruption and democracy,” said Kos.

Minister Hoxha today made his first official visit to Brussels as head of Albanian diplomacy. He considered this meeting an excellent opportunity to reconfirm Albania's progress on the path towards the European Union.
