In the first public meeting after his resignation, Lulzim Basha made four proposals. In a meeting with young people, Basha spoke about open lists, the vetting of politicians, the limitation of mandates for the prime minister and the votes of immigrants. But all these proposals are not new, they have been repeated several times by Basha when he was in charge of the DP, but also by other politicians.
"Open lists, the vetting of politicians, the limitation of mandates and something that is mandatory today by the decision of the Constitutional Court, but there is no effort to make it a reality, the vote of immigrants. Between 35-42% of our compatriots are not physically located in Albania. We all know the reasons why. They left and continue to leave en masse, but they do not have the right to express themselves by voting like the citizens, our brothers in Kosovo or the citizens of other EU countries. I have a lot to say about the open lists, the vetting of politicians, the limitation of mandates, the votes of immigrants, but I think as a start we have enough to talk about, but also about other issues for which we have gathered here today", he said. Basha.
Basha said that he considers these issues as the most urgent need. And addressing the young people, he said that in this way they will no longer speak in silence, as, according to him, they did in the May 14 elections.
"These are proposals that I take the opportunity to launch here today from among you as the group with the most acute need to no longer speak in silence as you spoke two weeks ago, but to make it possible for your voice to ring today for an hour before and as soon as possible in the next parliamentary elections", said Basha.
