"This government is corrupt to the core", Berisha: The end of Rama, before the court

The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, delivered a harsh speech during the opposition protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office, describing the force he leads as the "only hope" for the country.

"Today we gather here not only as a great political alternative, today we gather here in this magnificent protest as the only hope for saving Albania from Edi Rama's narco-state, based on crime, drugs and the theft of Albanians," Berisha declared.

He stressed that the protests carried out by the opposition have shown its strength and resilience in the face of, according to him, a repressive regime. "We faced the regime as invincible, we faced poisoned water, tear gas, rubber batons and rubber bullets, but we won," he said.

In his speech, Berisha also touched on the low turnout at a protest called by civil society against the oil price hike, attributing it to the climate of fear in the country. “Absolutely every Albanian has been affected by the oil price hike, but why was there no participation? The answer is fear,” he said.

According to him, citizens feel threatened for their jobs and livelihoods, which prevents them from reacting publicly.

"Edi Rama, with his patronage system, with the pressure on employees, with the arrest of tens of thousands of citizens for electricity and water bills, has instilled fear in Albanians," declared Berisha.

He emphasized that the Democratic Party remains the only force that represents courage and resistance to power.

Berisha said that the DP is the only hope for Albania. The chief democrat stated that the price of oil in our country has the highest taxes in the world.

"This government is corrupt to the core. We have held the most extraordinary citizen protests. Thousands of young people faced the regime, with rubber bullets, but they triumphed. We are the only hope for Albania. The Democratic Party has been and remains in defense of Albanian citizens, against Rama's predatory theft of the liter of oil. Today Albanians have the lowest salaries and pensions in the region and in Europe. The tax on oil is the highest in the world," said Berisha.

"In Albania, Lubia with affairs amounting to 1.2 million euros and Edi Rama, co-shareholder in 62% of these affairs, not only did not resign, but on the contrary violated the decisions, slammed the doors of the courts and told the Albanians that the Balluku case is closed. Edi Rama, here we are to give our word of honor that we will never close the Balluku case, your case, and your end will be before the court", Berisha stressed.
