One of Berisha's former close associates, Mero Baze, wrote earlier that Berisha, as a fanatical ex-communist and attached to people in power, changed his date of birth to be a day before October 16, which is also Enver Hoxha's birthday. .

But another of the people who have been very close to Berisha, his former family bodyguard Izet Haxhia, gives a completely different version.

It tells a strange story that begins in the fall of 1943, with the shelter of a wounded Serb-Bosnian partisan in the Vičidol tower. Who was chased with a rifle after "insulting the honor of the tower", but managed to escape.

A story that has circulated quietly for years within the Berisha tribe and which then forced Berisha to postpone the date of birth by 4 months to remove the shadow of that doubt from himself, - according to Izeti.

"I have heard the story for a long time, but I said to myself that it is a communist slander. In fact, a relative of the Berisha tribe confirmed it to me, an old man who is also my relative.

In the fall of 1943, a wounded Serbian partisan took shelter for several months in the Berishaj tower in Viçidol. An affection is born with Saliu's mother, then a young girl, but this relationship is dictated by Zeqir Halili, Saliu's uncle, who was a wise man and they discuss a dinner with the other men of the tribe, to kill the Serbian partisan who was had touched the honor.

But Zeqiri added on the empty bed, because the Serb had run away after the notification in time. This Serbian partisan (Serbo-Bosniak) stayed in the months of September-October and November in the tower of Berisha in 1943, Saliu was born on July 1, 1944.

Berisha himself was asked by journalists about the reasons for changing his birthday when the decriminalization forms were filled out.
