How much interest do Indonesia and the Philippines have to work in Albania? Hasani: Foreigners not only for tourism, but also for work
New law on diplomatic service and special structure for Albanians in the region. These are the key points that were discussed at the "Diplo 2024" Conference of Ambassadors, which were announced today by Foreign Minister Igli Hasani in a press conference.
"Albania is engaged in many international organizations and initiatives that have been successfully implemented. During the 3 days of the conference, we discussed the internal developments for the diplomatic service. We are preparing a new law for the foreign service and a new structure for the foreign service and a directorate that will deal exclusively with the Albanians who are in the region and with the map around the world".
He said the diplomatic service would soon be expanded to India, Kenya and Indonesia.
"We are well represented on the European continent but we had gaps that we want to fill as soon as possible and as soon as possible we will open embassies in India, Indonesia and Kenya. We are in the process of verifying the places where we should be present. All these make it possible to ask more of ourselves and progressively. We set milestones for our work in the period of the next 12 months and in the future, and such commitments will be part of the work routine and consistent every year."
The opening of the Albanian embassy in Indonesia, India and Kenya will also serve for their employment in our country.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs did not give concrete figures on how interested these countries are in working in Albania, but said that our country must prepare to welcome many foreigners, not only for tourism, but also for work. At the conference with journalists, he said that there is great economic, work and cooperation potential with these countries.
"Following the official talks with colleagues from Pristina, one of the topics was the representation of Albania and Kosovo around the world and we agreed that Kosovo should open an embassy in Malaysia and Albania in Indonesia, so that we can cover the countries of the Pacific space, where there is great economic potential, work and cooperation. We are looking at the possibilities to facilitate the engagement of people who see Albania as an opportunity not only for tourism, but also for work. Albania and Albanians should think that we are no longer a country of immigrants, but we will welcome many foreigners who will join our efforts to improve and work on the realities where we are".
When asked about the representation of Kosovo in this conference, Hasani answered:
"In the case of Kosovo, we have excellent cooperation and this directorate will help colleagues in Pristina for the challenges and the journey they have undertaken. Prishtina was invited, we unfortunately waited for the holidays and a health situation, the representation was not what was expected. But I will meet Minister Gërvalla to discuss the issues we had on our agenda".
He repeated Prime Minister Rama's statements about the 2027 NATO summit that will be organized in Tirana.
"Albania is an important partner and indispensable ally in the North Atlantic Alliance. In 2025, the meeting of the European political committee".
