In an interview with the Greek newspaper "Today Press", MEP Fredi Beleri surprised him with the statement, saying that Albanians have "anti-European feelings" that Prime Minister Edi Rama has encouraged.
Beleri said that he has always agreed that Albania should be part of the European family, but according to him, the country must meet certain conditions which, according to him, the current government is undermining.
"In Egypt, Mrs. Lekkakou, persona non grata is not me, but unfortunately the Republic itself and the rule of law. The hatred that the Albanian prime minister methodically cultivated towards my personality led to the sad event in Tirana in October. A direct insult to the institution I represented, but also to Europe.
However, you should understand that the anti-European sentiments of the Albanian people are mainly due to the blind support of the Albanian government and Mr. Rama.
I have said repeatedly that Albania should be in Europe. However, the speed and determination with which he moves towards the EU depends on it. Of course, a candidate state must meet certain conditions, to complete chapters to then join," Beleri said.
