Albert Mëlyshi, the "Together We Win" candidate, who won the local elections in Mirdita Municipality, commented on the situation within the Democratic Party. In a Skype connection for the show 'Pa Protokoll', Albert Mëlyshi said that after the defeat there should be an opening of the Democratic Party.
"The way all the factors have cooperated here has been beyond party interests. Without wanting to get involved in central politics, I think that what PD needs today is its opening, by which I mean the right, the individuals who want Albania to have a stronger and more competitive opposition tomorrow. The right should see the opening of the DP as an emergency with these actors and individuals to serve not only the right but Albania. Openness means inclusion of as many individuals as possible, not exclusion of individuals. Berisha and every rightist who will serve Albania should also reflect on this. It is the only way for the opposition to exert pressure on the central government" - said Mëlyshi.
He also commented on the invitation he gave to Prime Minister Edi Rama to have a coffee together in Rrëshen.
"I have the right to ask the prime minister for cooperation. I ask for maximum cooperation not for the president but for the mayors," he added.
