Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, in his weekly statement to journalists, has stated, among other things, that Lulzim Basha is a hostage of Edi Rama and that if the latter "releases" him, he risks imprisonment for 6 to 12 years. He said that Basha is caught with a crime file for money laundering and that he has been interrogated several times by the Belgian prosecutor's office.
" For every Albanian, Basha is Rama's hostage. Basha is not caught with an espionage file, but with a crime file. The file of his crime is not an invention of Berisha, but a reality in the Prosecutor's Office, a file which was filed with the charge of money laundering against Basha, which goes from 6 to 12 years in prison.
Edi Rama with a prosecutor blocked the sending of the file to the Supreme Court. The file is not closed because a prosecutor has not signed, and when Rama wants, he takes that file.
Basha is sentenced to 6-12 years in prison for this case. Basha is under international investigation with the Toyota Yaris file, he has been interrogated several times by the Belgian prosecutor's office ," said Berisha.
