The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, commented on the request of the head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, who requests that the Constitution be amended and SPAK prosecutors be given the opportunity to re-run for the Special Prosecution Office, after the end of their 9-year mandate.
Berisha stated firmly that he will not vote to change the Constitution, according to him, for Altin Dumani's seat. According to Berisha, with this request, Altin Dumani shows that he is afraid of the work he has done.
During the press conference, Berisha said that the Constitution will be amended to "remove prosecutors' control over judges."
"Did you hear it today, the trouble of the mandate. Sir, if you have performed your duties in accordance with the law, you cannot be afraid of your job. Here are your colleagues who have given life sentences, not one, but several, and you took them and removed them one by one from the system because they sentenced the chief bandits of the government and the Socialist Party. What is this, changing the Constitution because he is afraid of his job? No, the Constitution never changes. Yes, the Constitution will change, the right for the prosecutor to control the judge of the file will be definitively removed. This does not happen in the world and that change is urgent.
"What else, to extend the deadline, to give him this or that, to make him forget that the Constitution is changing for this. What did they suffer, tell us a little bit, where do you have his sentences? The Serious Crimes Prosecution has dozens of life sentences, the most dangerous criminals, where do you have them? You don't have any to this day because you bargain. This guy is obsessed, in every meeting he asks, change the Constitution for my chair. No sir, we don't change the Constitution for your chair. You show that you are afraid of the work you have done. Why are you afraid of the work you have done, you were a prosecutor in Skopje, you will go to be a prosecutor somewhere else again, if you have worked, if you have not worked, you will answer", said Berisha.
