The President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, participated in the tributes in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Liberation that took place at the Martyrs' Cemetery.
The head of state, in his message about this important event in the history of Albania, writes that on this day we must express our gratitude for those thousands of boys and girls who gave their lives for the country's freedom.
"80 years ago, our country emerged triumphant in the fight against fascism and Nazism, aligned on the right side of history.
Thousands of Albanians, sons and daughters of our country, during the Second World War, sacrificed the most precious thing, their lives, for something they held even more precious, freedom.
Today we commemorate him with the deepest gratitude and bow to him with the greatest respect.
Their sacrifice is our bequest. Their aspiration for freedom remains our obligation for a free and advanced Albania. Glory forever to the Martyrs of the Motherland!", writes Begaj.
