Balla announces changes in the law on the State Police
Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla

The Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla, has warned of legal changes for "irresponsible policemen" who violate the law, bringing serious consequences for the citizens. In the meeting he had with the Police structures in Gjirokastër, Balla said that the work to change the law will start very soon.

"The efficiency of the Police's work does not depend on the strength of the police, but on the strength of the law. The police should be more self-correcting and should be perceived only and only as a symbol of lawfulness. The police should be a model, a reference for citizens. In any case, breaking the law has serious consequences for society, but when laws are broken by the police, the consequences are many times more serious. This shakes public confidence not just in the police, but in the state and the law. However, these improvements in the vision and mission of the Police are not realized simply because I ask for them or because the citizens support them. They also require legal support and we will start working on this", said Balla.

Without going into too much detail about the possible changes, Balla said that these changes will come in the vision and mission of how the Police and other law enforcement agencies will work.

As I have made known during my first contacts with leaders of the State Police, representatives of institutions, but also with citizens throughout the country, the Police and other law enforcement agencies need some changes in the vision and mission of theirs. I found that the public and the citizens have welcomed these new approaches in the relations of the Police with the law and the citizens. We must give more priority to communication, partnership cooperation with citizens and educational functions of the Police and law enforcement agencies", concluded the minister.
Not more than a few days ago, SPAK's operation revealed how high officials of the State Police were part of the underworld.
