The Minister of State for Relations with the Parliament, Elisa Spiropali, requested today from the floor of the Assembly, the release of the expectant mother who was arrested two days ago in Shkodër.

In her speech, Spiropali called on the institutions to speed up the procedures so that Diana Bacja can be released immediately and go to her baby.

" First and foremost, I want to say that Djana Bacja should be released immediately. The judge who received the request should release him today, not tomorrow. I don't understand which prosecutor, court, etc. arrests, requests the replacement of a fine with imprisonment for a pregnant mother.

Institutions should speed up the procedures for that woman to get out of prison and go to her child. We did not leave the session to make politics. I have spoken to the lawyer and am in constant contact. Women are kept in prison longer than men.

This systemic injustice must be addressed and this is not done with propaganda, it is done with the law and with the conscience of those prosecutors and judges ," said Spiropali.
