Former Democratic MP Ervin Salianji explained more tonight about his movement within the Democratic Party.
Salianji said that the Democratic Party is not in its best condition. According to him, there are several events that have occurred in this country, emphasizing the issue of Belinda Balluku, and said that the party's reaction has been apathetic.
"The concern is that there is no proper reaction. The country had to be shaken up, sir. For this case, both big and small had to be shaken up. You have seen for smaller cases of corruption what has happened now in Bulgaria, what has happened in Romania. We are in conditions where the DP has no reactive power or not ," said Salianji on the "Opionion" show.
He emphasized that the day after Balluku was indicted, the Democratic Party decided to analyze the elections, while underlining that he was among the few who called for a protest.
"I am saying that there is no power to react. I am saying that I requested at the Presidency meeting the day the defendant (Belinda Balluku) was arrested, the next day the DP decided to conduct an analysis of the election theft or the election loss. That day I was among the few who requested that we protest strongly. It was spoken when I requested the protest. After I requested it, the protest was discussed. I requested it ," said Salianji.
"There was Deputy Prime Minister Ilir Meta. He resigned over an accusation, but he did not stop the opposition of that time in this country from doing what it was doing. Do you remember January 21? Now we are not weaker. I think that the DP is stronger and the reaction we should have in these conditions is this ," he added.
Asked by Blendi Fevziu if the reaction to Balluk is a sold game, Salianji replied: "I don't buy into any conspiracy theories. We didn't react in the right way."
Salianji also spoke about the by-elections, saying that the candidates supported by the DP in all municipalities did not receive enough votes to even secure a mandate as a deputy. Regarding the weekly protests in front of the Prime Minister's Office for the overthrow of the government, Salianji ironized the action of the blue headquarters.
"How? By talking and playing music in front of Rama ," he asked.
He said that the analysis in the DP was announced by the party one day after the deputy prime minister was named as a defendant.
"What is the difference between the speeches being made there and the meetings we are holding? I did not announce the analysis in the DP a day after this, the party announced it. This was the moment that I also started this discussion. I did not start it at the height of the scandal. The meetings started three weeks later," said Salianji.
He even revealed that Balluk's sister-in-law was one of the judges who sentenced him to prison.
"If it is for this logic, I may have an additional reason. Do you know that this lady's sister-in-law sentenced me to prison or not? Here I am. One of the judges who sentenced me and who I served 9 months and a half in prison was Belinda Balluku's sister-in-law. Let's not take this to extremes because then it's utter nonsense ," said Salianji.
He emphasized that the Democratic Party did not react in the right way.
"The contribution of the DP and every party in the opposition is undoubtedly denunciation, building an alternative, but also another element. We are not here to applaud the work that SPAK does, but to benefit politically and be there as a guarantor of the public interest to benefit from the government's scandals. Veliaj is gone, Balluku is gone, Beqaj is gone, Tahiri is gone. What have we capitalized on from this? Well, I'll tell you these things ," said Salianji.
According to him, the DP must motivate the structures and return the merits to the party.
