Democratic Party Legal Affairs Secretary Indrit Sefa says it is still being discussed with the local branch in Kukës to find a candidate who will run in the mayoral election in the north-eastern city on September 24. Sefa said the main decision-making is the DP's dega Kukes. Regarding the CAS decision recognising the Freedom Party as the biggest opposition force, Sefa stated that the PD will address the Electoral College.

"It is a decision-making in open opposition to the provisions of the law, as was the previous decision-making three weeks ago which the DP objected to and addressed the Electoral College. The Electoral College, which gave the DP the right, was a decision we expected. We will address the Electoral College and believe that the electoral college will clarify the situation and it will be determined that the DP is the second largest party in the country and the largest opposition party in Albania.

"As we have made clear, and in the statements we have made, it is a process which is in constant consultation with the local branch in Kukës, given the previous decision of the Presidency, who decided that there should be no candidate on May 14. That's a discussion that is dealing with local factors there. The DP is available to all Democrats, and normally thinks and the alternatives it considers are for the benefit of democrats and right-wingers in the Kukes area. Given that there are also local elections and local interests in the way citizens there value and see the opportunity to compete, the last decision will be made by the Kukes branch. We are waiting, we are in constant discussions with the DP branch in Kukës," he stressed.
