GOCAT Gallery has now opened the doors of the exhibition “Here and Now”, a project that focuses on the importance of the present and confronts the public with its intensity. This cycle of works by Albanian artist from North Macedonia, Verim Zendeli, marks a bold chapter in his creativity and one of the most heartfelt and personal reflections of this artistic journey.
Inspired by the philosophy of Walter Benjamin, who conceived of “here” and “now” as metaphors for space, time and authenticity, the exhibition constructs a multiple narrative where memory and identity intertwine with the social, economic and political realities of our day. Here, individual experience and collective memory are transformed into art that resists, provokes and invites dialogue.
The exhibition, curated by Jelldez Asani and Elton Koritari, comes as an added value to the Gallery's program.
“Zendeli builds his works on Benjamin's ideas, creating not only objects but also encounters. The strength of 'Here and Now' lies in the way it transforms the immediate into a direct dialogue between the work, the space and the audience, ” said Jelldez Asani.
For the artist himself, this exhibition is perhaps the most challenging, but also the most beloved to him.
“'Here and Now' is perhaps my most challenging project, but also the one that I feel closest to my heart. Seeing it realized here in Tirana, in this inspiring space, has a special meaning for me. I am sincerely grateful to the Mane Foundation and the GOCAT Gallery for their support and the realization of my vision ,” said Verim Zendeli.
The exhibition was also visited at the opening by Samir Mane , founder of the Mane Foundation , which has supported the development of the GOCAT Gallery as an important cultural space in Tirana. He was also joined by well-known figures from the world of entrepreneurship in North Macedonia.
The exhibition “Here and Now” is open to the public at the GOCAT Gallery , Tirana, with free admission . Visitors are welcome from Tuesday to Sunday , from 10:00 to 18:00 , until October 20, 2025.
