An unusual scandal has rocked Tameside Hospital in Manchester,  UK , where an anaesthetist was caught having sex with a nurse in the next room while a patient undergoing a scheduled operation was left asleep unattended.

The incident was discovered by another colleague who found them in ' heated ' moments in another room, bringing harsh reactions from staff and health authorities.

44-year-old doctor Suhail Anjum has admitted guilt for his behavior, describing it as a " difficult personal moment " and a serious mistake, but stressed that it had no impact on the patient's health.

He stated that he felt very stressed and needed to relieve tension, but this defense has not been accepted by regulators, who consider this action a serious breach of ethics and professional responsibility.

The doctor is now facing disciplinary proceedings before the Medical Tribunal Service, where he risks being disqualified and losing the right to work in his profession.

The incident raises serious concerns about patient safety and standards of care in British hospitals, prompting calls for tighter controls and stronger penalties for unacceptable behaviour in the health sector./ The Telegraph
