Cradle

In the framework of the project entitled "Origin and craftsmanship", the National Museum of Medieval Art brought to the attention of the public one of the objects of its fund, a cradle.

The cradle has been one of the most important objects in Albanian culture.

Like a baby bed, which tilts and puts the baby to sleep.

Its use has been known since ancient times and in all Albanian-speaking regions.

The cradle, the photos of which MKAM shared on social networks, is evidence of cultural heritage, passed down through the generations, inheriting handwork and folk wisdom.

One of the earliest traditions, an excellent and equally difficult job, has been wood carving for centuries.

Widespread throughout Albania, since ancient times, with the specifics of each country, wood carving has always occupied a very important place in the life of our people, starting from the necessary objects, of daily use, to objects of decoration.

Artfully carved geometric, floral and zoomorphic motifs will be the focus of the program on cultural heritage, tradition and handicrafts.

MKAM, in its funds, contains many popular elements, which will be exposed as a good example of our national wealth.
