Renowned actor Laert Vasili was invited this Saturday to the show "S'e luan Topi" on Top Channel, where he shared an emotionally charged story about his life and that of his family during the dictatorship.
In a touching moment of the interview, Vasili confessed that his sister, who was his parents' first child, passed away at the age of 6 months, after an event that he describes as horrific: according to him, a large amount of blood was taken from the baby during tests, blood that was used to regenerate the blood of dictator Enver Hoxha.
"Blood was taken from babies and the dictator's blood was regenerated. That's how my 6-month-old sister lost her life. When you took the children for tests, they took more blood and you didn't understand," the actor said, adding that this was not an isolated case, but a practice that, according to him, had happened to many other children.
Vasili emphasized that his mother, out of fear, had chosen to leave Tirana and give birth to him in Delvina, to avoid a similar fate.
"Everyone knows what was happening in the hidden coves of the Artificial Lake, but no one has said it. Albania was filled with people crying with oi... you can hardly laugh, but you can hardly cry. Two and a half million Albanians cried with oi for the dictator," he said during the interview.
The actor did not spare criticism for the silence that, according to him, continues to cover up many dark events of the past regime. He also mentioned the lack of transparency regarding the dictatorship's files and the figures involved in them:
"As for what's underground at Mali me Gropa... no one is talking about the files yet. Do you understand what hypocrisy?", he concluded.
