A security guard from the luxury Intercontinental Hotel recently testified against famous rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs, revealing a scheme to hide a security video from 2016, in which the artist is seen physically assaulting his former partner, singer Cassie Ventura.

Eddy Garcia, the security guard, testified in court that Diddy paid him $100,000 in cash in exchange for handing over the video and ensuring it was not made public.

“He was terrified that the sight would ruin his career,” Garcia testified to ABC News. “When he handed me the money, he told me I was his angel.”

Video footage is shown in the courtroom

The much-talked-about video, which is now key evidence in Combs' criminal trial, was played at the hearing. In the video, the rapper is seen chasing Cassie down a hotel hallway, knocking her down, kicking her and trying to pull her back into the room.

Lawyers admit violence, but deny more serious criminal charges

Combs' lawyers acknowledged that the video contains violence, but categorically denied the charges of human trafficking, extortion and involvement in prostitution, charges that led to Combs' arrest.

According to Garcia's testimony, Combs tried at all costs to control the distribution of the video. He was first contacted by the rapper's assistant, Kristina Khorram, who requested access to the footage. Then, Diddy himself became directly involved, contacting Garcia, who agreed to deliver a single copy of the video on a USB to an out-of-town address.

Other evidence and serious accusations

After the video was released by CNN last year, Diddy issued a public apology, saying he "felt sincere remorse" and had sought professional help.

Diddy's former associate, Derek Ferguson, also testified at the trial, and was asked about the operation of the rapper's companies and their possible use for illegal purposes. Ferguson denied any knowledge of any specific crime, but his testimony added weight to the prosecution's allegations.

Testimony was also presented from other employees, who admitted to regularly purchasing products such as lubricants, drugs and alcohol for events known as “freak offs.” Another shocking detail was a $20,000 payment from Cassie’s mother, who feared for her daughter’s safety.

In the coming days, other key testimonies are expected, including that of Bryana Bongolan, who claims she was threatened with death by Combs, and another woman known as "Jane," who is expected to give a lengthy and substantial testimony.

The trial continues, as public and legal pressure on Diddy grows. If the allegations are proven, the rapper faces serious legal consequences and irreparable damage to his career.
