Renowned American actor Channing Tatum and director Derek Cianfrance presented the dramatic comedy "Roofman" at the London Film Festival.
Hollywood star Channing Tatum transforms into a gentle and funny criminal.
The film, based on a true story, tells the life of Jeffrey Manchester, a former American soldier who became known as the Roofman after robbing over 40 restaurants by entering from the roof.
After serving a 45-year prison sentence, he manages to escape and hides for months in a toy store, where he begins a love story with Leigh, played by actress Kirsten Dunst.
"I was just two decisions away from becoming like Jeff. The movie is about empathy and human nature, about how sometimes we don't know how to avoid ourselves," said Channing Tatum.
"The story is unbelievable, but almost everything is true. I spoke to family members, police officers and even the judge who sentenced him. Everyone confirmed it," said Derek Cianfrance.
Actress Kirsten Dunst said she immediately accepted the role because of her desire to work with Cianfrance and tell an extraordinary story of love and forgiveness.
The film "Roofman" has been released in American cinemas and is expected to be released worldwide at the end of October.
