Italian singer of Albanian origin Anna Oxa has reacted to the bitter news of the passing of legendary journalist Pippo Baudo.
In a post on her official Facebook account, Oxa dedicates a few lines to Baudo, recalling one of the lucky moments for Albanian television, when Baudo came to "Magic Song" in Albania.
“…his presence was more than an appearance: it was a bridge.
"A bridge between generations, between languages, between dreams," writes Oxa.
The artist, known for her unique voice and style, emphasizes the influence that Baudo has had on the lives of many singers, including herself, who, according to the dedication, exploded like a "rebellious comet" on the Italian music scene.
The singer's dedication to Baudo
In the theater of time, where the lights come on,
Pippo Baudo, stage master, appeared,
who didn't just present artists — but listened to them, understood them,
and made them flourish under the sun of his voice.
Since the nights of Sanremo, when Anna Oxa exploded like a rebellious comet,
with that timbre that defied the rules and caressed the heart,
and to the shores of the Adriatic, where Albania welcomed him like an old friend,
Baudo brought with him respect for art,
just as he holds a rose without breaking its stem.
In 2014, at the "Magic Song" festival,
His presence was more than an appearance: it was a bridge.
A bridge between generations, between languages, between dreams.
Anna Oxa, daughter of two worlds, sang with the intensity of someone who knows the border
and turns it into a song.
And Pippo, with the gaze of one who has seen thousands of voices born,
greeted that scene as one greets an old love:
with gratitude, with elegance, with conviction
that art has no homeland, but only the hearts that shelter it.
For you Pippo
Pippo Baudo passed away at the age of 89, on Saturday evening in Rome. Giuseppe Raimondo Vittorio Baudo, who was known simply as Pippo, was the "master" of Italian television. The master of television presenters. Author of programs, discoverer of artists, singers, actors. A man of spectacle, 'showman', author, actor, orator, a multidimensional.
Pippo Baudo worked for public television almost throughout his entire career.
