Dejan Vuksic, former director of the National Security Agency (ANB), and Mirjana Pajkovic, former state secretary at the Ministry of Human Rights and Minorities

Mirjana Pajkovic , the former secretary of the Directorate for the Improvement and Protection of Human Rights in Montenegro, spoke in an interview with the online television portal Dan about the threats and blackmail against her, which she claims were made by Dejan Vuksic , the former director of the National Security Agency.

Pajković said that the state has responded inadequately to the violence against her over a long period of time, including serious threats that have not resulted in arrests.

She added that even "the president of the state has failed to act" on her complaints.

The former official stressed that her case shows that the law is not applied equally to everyone and that Montenegro lacks gender equality and the protection of fundamental rights, the media reports.

In the interview, Pajković appealed in particular to women " not to remain silent in the face of attacks or abuse ", saying that she herself considers her initial silence a "mistake".

She said that " Vuksic was patient and repeatedly threatened her that there would be no life in Montenegro for her ," due to compromising material, after she refused to act on his demands.

Pajkovic has filed several criminal charges against Vuksic and, as a lawyer, believes that current laws are not sufficient to address today's crimes, including blackmail and threats with wide-ranging personal and professional consequences.

We recall that for more than a month, Montenegro has been facing an affair that has shaken the political scene and state institutions.

At its center are Dejan Vuksic, former director of the National Security Agency (ANB), and Mirjana Pajkovic, former state secretary at the Ministry of Human Rights and Minorities.

The scandal erupted after explicit images and intimate recordings related to Pajkovic were spread on social networks.

Immediately after the publication, both resigned from their state positions, stating that they were leaving for "personal reasons."

Pajkovic has filed three criminal charges, alleging that intimate materials were distributed without her consent.

She accuses Vuksic of threatening to publish them and of mentioning the existence of compromising images publicly.
