The Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, has stated that a change in the leadership of his country will not change Kiev's relations with its partners.
"I don't think any change in the government can affect our relations with our partners, because our partners respect the authority of the president. It is a sovereign constitutional right of the president of Ukraine," Kuleba said at a joint press conference in Kyiv with his Portuguese counterpart, Joao Gomes Cravinho.
The Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has stated that there is a need to "restore" the country's leadership, to replace some senior officials who will go beyond the military field. Ukraine's army chief, General Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, may be replaced, it is said.
Kuleba said the team is united around the goal of defeating Russia, which launched a "special military operation" in Ukraine nearly two years ago, as well as restoring the country's territorial integrity.
He added that Zelenskyy has the constitutional right to "take decisions that he considers necessary to ensure the efficiency of government and the achievement of the strategic goal."
"I see two reasons when I will leave the office. The first is if the president asks me to do this because he offered me this job. And second, if I disagree with the way foreign policy is defined and administered. None of these reasons are in place at the moment, that's why I continue to work", said Kuleba.
