Concern is growing over the fate of Alexey Navalny sentenced to 19 years in prison. Vladimir Putin's best-known opponent, who has always been hostile to the Moscow government, has " disappeared ", raising concerns for his safety.

For days the lawyers have not been able to talk to him and for a week he has not been able to communicate with his staff. This is a rather disturbing detail in the days when his network of dissidents has launched a campaign to boycott the March elections and the expected victory of "Czar".

"Alexey has been missing for 3 days," the head of the investigative department of Navalny's Anti-Corruption Foundation, Maria Pevchikh, reported late Friday. "Lawyers stood all day in front of IK-6, his current prison, and IK-7, a special regime colony in the Vladimir region. Everywhere they were told to wait, but in the end they refused entry," she said.

That morning, Navalny was due to appear in court via video link, but everything was cancelled. It was officially said due to problems with the prison's electrical network, which are still unresolved to this day. But that's not all.

"We learned that Alexey had a serious health problem. His life is in danger," Pevchikh said further. "Last week he felt bad in the cell. He felt dizzy and lay on the floor. The staff intervened by giving him help. We don't know what was given to him, but since he is not being fed, he is being kept in an isolation cell without ventilation, it seems that he fainted from hunger," she said.

In the days after this event, it seemed to be going on normally. "The lawyers saw him, he felt better. But it is already the third day that we do not know where he is. And there was no letter from him for the whole week", Pevchikh further states.

Navalny has been in prison for almost 3 years. His network launched this week the "Russia without Putin" initiative. The organizers ask every citizen to "convince at least 10 people to vote against Putin". "The voting results will be falsified, but our task is to show everyone that Russia no longer needs Putin. The 2024 elections will be a referendum on the approval of his actions, on the approval of the war" - they said.
